Rays Fan's Rejoice

After a tough few weeks and months in trading away Jake Odorizzi, Evan Longoria, Steven Souza Jr and the shock DFA'ing of Corey Dickerson, the Rays have agreed a 1year deal with veteran outfielder Carlos Gomez.

The deal is reportedly worth $4m + incentives and offers the Rays a nice veteran presence within a very young club house. With a farm system boasting offensive talents such as Willy Adames, Brent McKay, Christian Arroyo, Jesus Sucre, Jake Bauers and Wander Franco a short term deal with a hitter with both Gomez's ability and experience could go a long way in the development of the Rays young core.

It will allow the Rays to remain relatively competitive whilst not fast tracking talents through their minor league system out of necessity. The Rays front office staff have made a series of questionable decisions over the last few weeks, but this certainly isn't one of them.
