Honeywell to undergo TJ surgery

The Rays off-season roller coaster enters another corkscrew today with the news that top pitching prospect Brent Honeywell will undergo TJ surgery and likely miss the entire 2018 season.

It's a serious blow for the 22 year old who posted solid numbers across AA (Montgomery) and AAA (Durham) last season, 136 IP / 3.49 ERA / 1.237 WHIP / 172 Ks and was expected to make his Big League debut sometime in the early part of this season. Honeywell left live BP yesterday with a suspected forearm strain which was later diagnosed as a torn UCL.
